error 100

error 100

2006-09-19 by keiodi

I'm getting an error after I start up my XL7. It says Error 100 save
something something. I don't remember exactally what the error name is
but it has to do with saving. I did a search here in the group but
didn't find anything about this. it doesn't seem to be effecting
anything (of course I haven't tried to save anything yet) and usually
occures about 10 seconds after I've started up and I am scrolling
through songs. Anyone have this error before? any suggestions. I'm
gonna back up and load the latest OS and see if that has any effect.

O.K. the exact text of the error is

Error! Code = 100
save failed

Now when this happens I am not attempting to save anything. If I turn
on my XL7 and don't touch anyhting I don't get the error. I get it
once I start scrolling through patterens.

I loaded backed up and loaded OS 2.0 and still got the problem. I
also opened up the case and checked all connections (I really didn't
think it would make a difference but I've wanted an excuse to crack
this puppy open)

any suggestions or comments?

Chances are your memory is full. When you edit parameters in the
global-ish menus (the 4 menus, global, arp, controllers, midi) it needs
to save them, so that's where the message is coming from.

Go to the save screen and see what the percentage free in the upper
right corner of the screen. My guess is that it's 0%.

Solution is to delete some sequences. You can save them off with
E-loader if you want to keep them.

I have had this message before, but it is always automatically
followed by a suggestion that I 'compact data'. it usually means that
your out of user memory and need to either delete some songs or
patterns or use the 'compact data'option. I would be a little
concerned that you are getting the error message for no apparent
reason. what percentage of free memory does it have left?.....have
you tried deleting some stuff.....or compacting the existing memory?

Yup that is what it was when I tried to save it asked if I wanted to
compact data. so I did, no problem now. At least this gave me an
excuse to load OS 2.0.

thanks for your guys help.
