Do Not Click On Potentially Malicious Links

Do Not Click On Potentially Malicious Links

2015-12-24 by smw-mail@...

Just to let you know, I deleted two posts with potentially malicious links. All of you probably know not to click on those, but I want to err on the side of caution in case someone doesn't know.

So far as I know those links typically get posted because someone had their address books compromised. I don't think our long-time members post those intentionally.

If you get the digested version of e-mails, I believe the emails may have already gone out.

Steve

just so y’all know-

It isn't me sending this spam. There's some drive-by malware that will snag your gmail contact list and sends spam using your address, so it ‘looks like it is from you’... but of course, if you look at the full header, it is usually coming from swipnet.se, because they apparently still maintain an open mail server.

Google is ‘aware of the issue’

what's weird is it apparently sends the email on the same day of the month, every month.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
