Preset effecting entire pattern

Preset effecting entire pattern

2002-08-07 by Greg Oler

First I would like to thank everyone in this group for
making my introductory experience to the XL7 and
sequencing much less painful. Now my question is why
is that when I finish laying out my drums (in their
seperate tracks) and assign a new track for any other
preset that has effects assigned to it. We will use
heavy Reverb for example. It effects every track. In
some cases the results are favorable but in others I
have to go out to another track and resave the pattern
with that tracks original pattern that is dry.

Also, why is it that when I pick a preset then move to
another track the preset changes?

thanks again,
Greg

Go to the Global Menu, and set your FX Multimode Control to "Use Master
Settings". Sounds like it set to "Preset on Channel X". Now you can
change the FX from with in the global Menu, and save them as part of your
pattern.

This might be a bit of a tedious task, and I'm actually hoping someone will provide a better answer than this, but what you might want to do is select each inidividual patch you are using and then go into the "out" section of each patch, make sure each patch is going to a global effects send that has 0% on it.

When I go into the Global Menu and scroll to FX
Multimode Control, it won't let me change it. It has
something in parenthesis saying that it is using "omni
mode" ( sorry don't have the box with me ). There were
a couple of other settings that wouldn't let me edit
them as well. Is there I need to change before going
to the FX MMC screen? Another interesting thing I
noticed is that when I in record mode and playing a
patern that I was editing, whenever I activate track 6
everything goes haywire.

Do you if there is a video or cookbook for some of the
ins and outs of the XL7?

Anyway you have been a tremoundous help, thanks.

Hmm, might want to do a factory reset. Anyone remember the power on
sequence for that?

The reset helped. It steps are listed on the EMU site
in the Knowledge Base as note 1018. Basically it is
holding both cursor keys down while powering on.
Scroll to #17 in the menu and hit the enter key twice.
Wait for the process to finish. Scroll to 18 in the
menu and hit enter twice again.

It fixed a lot of problems and left everything
previously edited alone. Thanks again.
