Those of you who replaced CEM 3372s how did you take them out ?

Those of you who replaced CEM 3372s how did you take them out ?

When I replaced my Eproms for Voice and Processor I used a PLCC Extractor like this: http://www.ultrabios.com/graphics/plcc_extractor.gif

will this work for pulling out the CEM 3372s as well ?

I might buy a set of CEM 3372 Rev D from Chipforbrains on Ebay.

Has anyone had a good experience with them ?

The newer rev D ICs from Technology Transport didn't work properly in my Xpander...

A while back I had my Xpander serviced for one voice that would very faintly sustain indefinitely. It was not obvious on every patch, but on patches with longer release times if you cranked the volume there was a hanging note. Otherwise everything worked perfectly and it passed all tests.

After swapping chips around, we finally the narrowed the problem down to the 3372 IC. It was a rev D 3372 I had recently replaced from Technology Transplant. I had purchased some more 3372's as back up from Technology Transplant so I brought them to the tech to try. We tried all eight 3372 ICs that I had and every one had the hanging note issue. My tech finally tried a 3372 that he had and it worked!

It seems the Xpander is picky about it's 3372s. From my experience, the newer rev D ICs from Technology Transport didn't work properly in my Xpander.

It's not just the Xpander/M-12. The Prophet-600 is pick about CEM3372s also. I have some of the older rev chips in stock.

This is interesting,
I have a Prophet T8 where one of the voices have a longer release-time. On certain patches, this is very noticeable.
Maybe I should check what 3372s are in there.
