Yamaha CS80

The guy with the GX-1 (http://www.pinballswanted.com) was thinking 
somebody like McCartney or Elton John would come along and give him 
$2M.  After a brief time, his Buy It Now was US$200k or $250k.  And 
frankly I was surprised some rich guy didn't spring for it.  Several 
months back, he put it for auction for starting bid of AU$100k, which 
was like US$83k, and I still believe he's sitting on it.  

The point you raise is ALWAYS an interesting one to consider - how 
much people had to spend for these keys back in the day when they 
were new.  In fact, the original owner of my CS-80 bought it new when 
he was like 21 years old.  My tech was that same age at that time, 
remembers wanting one sooo bad, and COULDN'T IMAGINE someone his age 
could've bought one new!  And, in fact, the guy was still living in a 
trailer part 20 years later, so it probably changed the whole course 
of his life!  

But, really, the amount people had to sacrifice in 1977 to buy one 
really isn't particularly relevant to what current market values are 
or should be.  And it's pretty apparent at these prices that the 
current free market is doing fine on it's own!
