Hi all With your kind help , I need to know something about the variable resistors put in the keybed and bound to the aftertouch: according to the big diagram there are 3 of them for each key: in case I'm happening to service an 80 what should be the replacement for them? Ohmic value/tolerance? Thanks for your help! M [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

are they really variable??? I thought they were fixed resistors Max...and the carbonised rubber bridge piece squished down to bring them all into the circuit.

Hi Max, Are you talking about the FSR (force sensing resistor)? Those are the key and aftertouch sensor... Hi Laurie yea, I mean, what if one sensor breaks? Could I be able to replace them? Also, my only doubt is that on the diagram it looks like there are three resistors put in series but I'm not sure what yamaha was trying to show there...??!! +____+ M

Hi Andy Yes, the FSR , I was referring to the aftertouch sensors anyway...just I find it odd that yamaha is reporting three resistor symbols for each key on the diagram, where the aftertouch contacts are drawn...what could that mean? M ----- Original Message -----

Max, Unless they are not functioning properly i wouldn't try and replace them. In any case, i have not come across a suitable part in two years of casual searching. Sensitronics in the USA might be able to make them - but they would be expensive and a substantial custom order would be required. Thx Andrew I understand that, as Sensitronics is one of the few manifacturers who builds them I could be forced to get a stock of them! just for the record : are the aftertouch sensors printed on the board? I think yes...any chance to get the stand-off resistance value for the specific aftertouch resistor in the CS80? By looking at David's experiment on the aftertouch I can see that the value can go from 0.00oz---> -0.2V to 90oz-->6.95V, but I think it doesn't help me findin that value...
