Key Coder ( LSI )

I was told by John Price of Kenton Electrnics that the reason the key coder LSI IC goes from voice 1-7 and bake again to 1 leaving 8 until you hold down two keys together was because when they were designed they were ment for the Yamaha organs of the time. The 8th channel was left clear for the pedal board assingment. I don't know if this is true or not but the more I think about it the more it seems to make sence. (maybe) Rant of the week: Seeing a ad for a Yamaha CS80 for sale and then finding out when you phone it that it is a 80cc step though moped. AHHHHHHHHHH!
