Hello everyone, Well, for all practical purposes a Software Watchdog and a Hard reset do the same thing. Here is the deal. In the RSR register, it will tell what the last reset was caused by. If you find that it is the Watchdog, you may want to do one initialization sequence as opposed to whether it is a Hardware Reset. A reset of any type always causes you to start from scratch. IF (and this is a big IF) you read the RSR, you can make some type of determination about what you want to do with regard to initializing the system. I bet you are expecting more but this is about all there is. The reset does not appear to be the same as a power-up/external reset. Can someone explain the differences between a power-up reset and a reset caused by the software watchdog? What registers, etc would I need to initialize to make it work the same as a power-up reset? My code works properly following a power-up reset, but if I purposely induce a software watchdog reset, things do not always seem to initialize properly. Thanks John Yahoo!
