Charlie:

I am trying to locate 3 of the 68LK332ACFC16 3.3 volt parts to build up a
prototype.
I can get 36 at a time but have not found any-one who will break a tray. Do
you or anyone
else know where I can get small quantities of this part?

it is common for most large volume distributors to attempt to force you to
buy in tube/tray lots.

I have been able to buy ones/twos from http://www.newark.com although
their policies seem somewhat erratic. Also Digikey http://www.digikey.com
has recently started carrying Motorola parts (but I don't know about your
exact part number).

Part of your problem may be that you are looking for a very specific part
number. Back off a bit and do your prototyping at 5.0 V with a more widely
available part.

Finally, don't depend on the vendor web sites. Actually call your
salesperson and beat on them a little bit. If you've taken the time and
made the effort over the years to develop a good relationship with them they
will sometimes bend the rules a bit.

You might also be able to get 3 parts as Engineering Samples through your
volume distributor. Motorola in my experience has generally been willing to
sample a reasonable number of parts through their distributors as long as
you are willing to provide project information (design name, estimated
annual usage, end customer, etc.).

Thanks Bob;

I have tried DigiKey and Newark but they don't carry the 3 Volt parts.
I did think of using a 5V part for the prototype, but I am using a memory
that is only
available in 3V so the power rail has to be 3 volt. Also, I have used the
5V '332
a lot but I not the 3V. There are some value changes in the oscillator
circuit that I
must try out.

Thanks for the advise,
Allen

Allan,

Please send me an email to my private email address. Include a physical address for yourself, not you email address. It is charles.melear@... <mailto:charles.melear@...> . Don't tell anyone else what my email address is. I might (and this is just a chicken mite) be able to help you on your 3.3 volt 68332 problem.
