[AN1x] Synchronization problem

[AN1x] Synchronization problem

2006-10-12 by Ondrash Daree

Hello friends.

I have a
problem with synchronization between An1x and Cubase SX3. Synchronization has lost.
I have set up MIDI TxCh1, RxCh1, TxpatternCh2, Tempo of arpeggio as MIDI. When I press Play in SX3 and record MIDI events (I have chosen an Arp.preset) AN1x plays with
same tempo like Cubase but without accuracy timing. I have tried to record arpeggio
events and they are not aligned to the grid. I have found out, that my AN1x LEDs (on a
panel) occasionally blinked. It is strange Could you help me with this issue?
I know that An1x needs good power supply. I use AC adaptor with 800mA. Is it
OK?

Many Thanks.

Ondrash

Under the VOICE COMMON menu, set Tempo to MIDI to synchronize the
Arp/Seq to MIDI Clock from your sequencer. If your suffering from
drift, try beginning the sequencer a measure or two earlier to allow
time for the AN1x to 'catch up' and stay in sync.

If you are using a multi-port MIDI Interface with many devices, I'd
suggest you move the AN1x to a higher number port to avoide any
delay resulting from MIDI slop.

Hello John.
Thank you for your answer. Voice Common I exactly use... I have a MIDI
Interface from MOTU MidiTimepiece AV (connected via Parallel Port)
on a second port. I tried to connect AN1x directly to MIDI
ports, which are on my sound card (EMU-1820). I tried AN1x with my friend in
his studio. The problem still persists. I don't have a problem with "catch
up" synchronization. But stay in sync. Synchronization is loosing often during
two bars. I mean that is happen when leds blinked brightly on the panel.. I cant
quit say if it is a new
problem because I didnt use synchronization before.

Any another
idea?

Thank you so much.

Hello !
On mine the "scene" LEDs blink sometimes ... don't care , it is not a
failure but more likely a minor bug, it depends on the current patch..
The stock power supply is rated at 12V DC - 700 mA : 800 is enough. In
fact the external supply is only a transformer and a rectifier bridge,
the voltage regulation circuits are inside the synth . And they are (i
think..) reliable . With mostly digital electronics if one voltage is
missing or too low nothing works .

My AN1X syncs to Sonar and is quite low on the MIDI chain (channel 11).
With the LED's flashing and things getting out of sync is your AN1X getting any too much other MIDI info that its not using like sysex ect?
If Cubase has a MIDI output filter/selector it could be worth tweaking that?
Is it only the AN1X thats going out of sync? I lost a lot of hair fine tuning my music PC to sync nicely with the outside world.

Yeah, the LED blinking doesn't appear to be an issue - mine and every other AN1x I've seen
has always behaved that way. We used to speculate on why this occurs - never did figure it
out despite some imaginative theories ;-) hahahaha

Thois are all good suggestions for him to try out? Thanks.

Re: [AN1x] Synchronization problem

Hello. Apologize
for delay. I am so busy. I have tried to resolve this issue, but without
success. I tried two AN1x and problem still persists. I mean that is common
issue of AN1x. If you want, you can try this one:

Choose some arp. Sound on AN1xSet arp. clock to MIDISet sync in SX3
Record some region into SX3.
(channel of AN1x track set to any, ch1 is not working well) open piano roll and check Note
On position for notes (if you didnt
catch first note to start position, select all notes and move them to
right position)check All Note On position

I found
that Note On position is not accurate within a region. The delay of notes is not
same. Notes stumble. I must use a quantization. What's your idea?

I have
resolved this problem with other solution. I have set a tempo as SX3 (133 BPM
for example) and adjust start note of sequence to the initial position.

Have a nice
day
