That's funny. I wonder how common this problem may be? I remember I wanted a CZ-1 but they were way too expensive at the time. I just bought a Yamaha DX7 on Ebay, I don't have it yet, but wanted to get one because they're such classics. Right now I'm using a Casio CT-700. The strange thing is, I can't find any information online about it! It's almost like it never existed. There's info for CT630, CT 670, etc, but only a real brief mention of it on google. It's a nice keyboard, 5 octave, 12 note poly. The polyphony is what I look for the most in a keyboard, you can't do much with 4 notes for example. '
I have a least a dozen patches I've written, most are pretty exotic. My main goal is to try and make a sound that doesn't compete with other instruments like the guitar, and still has the character of a keyboard. In other words, I don't want electric guitars sounds, just something that you can tell it's a keyboard and still has some grit to it.

Amazing - that's exactly what happened with my CZ-101, to the letter! I gave up and threw mine away (nothing could get it working) and I found a nice CZ-1 for £85 on www.loot.com. Exactly the same architecture, but with 16 or 8 voices, 5-octave velocity and after-touch sensitive full-sized keyboard, mod wheel, onboard chorus, sustain pedal and 128 (or is it 256?) user memories. I have even used it as a MIDI master keyboard with a piano module (it's far more portable than my Studiologic SL-880 and of course can produce some killer Hammond and combo organ sounds by itself). By the way, I have a complete ring binder full of patches I've written, ranging from Crumhorn to Vibraslap, along with Trash Pad, Bland Sax, Mellotron Strings (which cut out after 8 seconds just to make you play it like a real 'Tron), Jah Skank, Hohner Pianet T and the best Grand Piano sound you're likely to get from a CZ (not very convincing).

Hi. I'm new to this group. I thought I'd share a story about my CZ1000.
I bought it in 1985. I had a couple keyboards before that though. But the
CZ was the first that had full size keys and I used it the most. It's a
pretty amazing synth, the presets are for the birds, but with an 8 stage
envelope generator, you could really make some very interesting sounds.
It's been under my bed for the last five to six years, and when I pulled it
out and tried using it, I found it had given up to ghost. Everytime I turn
the power on, all the lights blink on and off rapidly, and a constant tone
is produced, it changes in pitch each time I power it on. I'm not too
broken hearted, it's had a rough life, it's been dropped a few times, so I'm
not surprised. I was thinking about buying another one on Ebay, I may do
that. I have patches I've written if anyone's interested.
