Just for my 2 cents, I was a bit disappointed when I got a VZ and compared 
it to the CZ's sound, although I do agree some patches are quite similar (I 
didn't feel that way about the strings as much as the bells, IIRC).

As to FM, never been a great fan.  I like it for particularly odd sounds and 
as a layer for others and like anything I'll use it if it's in my hands, but 
the sound never grabbed in much of any context.  I did get a DX100 since the 
price was right and I like having a variety of sounds so it fills a little 
gap, but it has been rather rarely used.
