Just for my 2 cents, I was a bit disappointed when I got a VZ and compared it to the CZ's sound, although I do agree some patches are quite similar (I didn't feel that way about the strings as much as the bells, IIRC). As to FM, never been a great fan. I like it for particularly odd sounds and as a layer for others and like anything I'll use it if it's in my hands, but the sound never grabbed in much of any context. I did get a DX100 since the price was right and I like having a variety of sounds so it fills a little gap, but it has been rather rarely used. ----- Original Message ----- From: "wadrad" <wadrad@...> To: <CZsynth@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Friday, September 09, 2005 1:38 PM Subject: [CZsynth] Re: Layering a DX7 + CZ1 = VZ1? >I think we're shooting in the same direction, but where you stated > the VZ doesn't sound like a CZ or a DZ, I would say "yeah, they don't > sound exactly alike, but depending on the patches they can sound > pretty damn similar."
