hallo, i'm new to this forum however my opinion is this: have used software stuff since rebirth 338 and before(started electronic music at age of 19 with awe 32/voyetra orchestrator and before electric trash/death guitar). After listening to a lot of stuff, hardware and software, with professional monitor speakers, i say that under my opinion hardware stuff wins. An Hardware is like a real guitar. Plugin can trick a little bit but they are emulation and they are not as punchy as they real stuff. We use evolver, siel dk80 (full midi cc responsive), a cz 5000 and some sample: this is enough. I find vst mostly usefull for pad stuff, but for the punchy basses forget vst: hear the difference with some good monitor speaker and some hardware stuff and then tell me. As well vintage digital synthetizer like casio CZ sound more solid than analog emulated vst. MY ASWER IS: MAKE A ROOM near you pc and get some hardware heavy stuff(and don't spend too much please, they cost free space and electric power). p.s. i own as well quasimidi raven max, an200, rm1x. quasimidi is ok: yamaha is not punchy, and when you buy hardware ask to test with the cleanest amp the shop has, not with the loudest. bye to all and sorry for my english
