RE: [CZsynth] Re: Midiox settings to transmit and receive syx file to the Casio VZ1

I have not dumped to/from CZ for a long while...my own written procedure based on what I was told is here:
http://templarseries.atspace.com/graphics/Synths/CZSYSX1.gif
if it is not sending data in response to Spreznibs code then I do not know what has happened - all I can say is it worked for me,using the technique I described with a 101/1000/230s which allowed me to plant sounds created on 101/1000 to the four ram slots on the 230s. I have to say that CASIO have not made CZ/FZ/VZ transfer as easy as it might have been.

Thanks Lee. When I ask the cz101 to dump it's memory it responds with

the sysex string FO 44 00 00 70 30 F7. What do I do in response to that?

Many thanks, Karl May

My site appears to be back online:

http://templarseries.atspace.com/cz.html

The details are in CZinfo and manual and DEFEATING HANDSHAKING links -

those details I have used with the 101 and 230s and they do work - it is

just a matter of getting your head around it.As was said here - if there

is a dump from keyboard protocol - use that - if not (as with the CZ101)

then you have to prompt the keyboard from the MIDI in socket by sending

a "Send SYSx" code - and wait for the reception from the midi out. With

MIDI ox I use TWO instances of the program at once - first set up one

version to ONLY receieve on from the OUT socket of the keyboard and set

it up ready to get SYSX manually.

Use the other version to ONLY transmit (in the devices dialogue) and

send the prompt from this instance of the program, and the other instance

will pick up the SYSx code from the 101. From there, dump it as a SYSx

file to the PC and from then on you can send it back to the keyboard

with no further messing about - it will accept the SYSx without any

handshaking. Hope that helps.

Your setup will be based on (1) your internal VZ settings and (2) your

midi connections between the VZ and your PC. I believe that once you

have those set up correctly, you just go into sysex mode in midi-ox and

trigger the bulk dump from the VZ itself. I suppose you could trigger

the dumps from midi-ox by inputting the correct sysex command, but (1)

that's more work and (2) it would depend on your internal VZ settings.

Oh. You asked about the cz-101. Silly me; I saw that the thread was

about the VZ!!!

Never Mind.
