The Casio HT range are ANALOGUE, not digital! ;-) The oscillator(s) is/ are digitally controlled (for stable tuning), the sound generation is pure analogue as are the filters! Like you, I found my HT 700 to be sort of more characterful than my HT 6000. I think the presets on the HT 6000 make it sound more like FM synthesis, too clean sounding, rather than analogue. Weird how the CZ range is supposed to have ripped of Yamaha's FM, yet the CZ's can sound WAY more like analogue, and the structure of building the CZ waveforms is based on subtractive analogue style synthesis. Maybe having individual filters per note played somehow detracts from the analogue feel on the HT 6000?I can't remember if my Roland JX3P does the same or not with its filter. I also like the HT 700 because it's nice and compact, is always there and easy to access and sounds sweet. Like my big CZ-1, my HT 6000 is stored away in another room because of its size. My HT 700 and CZ 101 sit side by side next to my computer! The HT 700/ 3000 are no MiniMoog/ ARP Odyssey, nor as lush as something like a Juno 60, but they do have a character of their own. I am very tempted to modify mine as per the videos in my other post to get the resonance really going for it and sending the filter into self oscillation!
