Re: [CZsynth] Re: RA3 Cartridge Battery

I have already checked the pins on the 101 and they are all intact and
straight. The weird thing is that the cartridge does exactly the same thing
on my friend's 1000, so it's not isolated to just my CZ. Weirder still, it
works fine when I tried it on my 3000, which uses a different method of
accessing the patches. With the 101/ 1000, the cartridge acts as an extra
bank of 16 sounds in addition to the 16 preset and 16 internal banks. On
the 3000 (and 5000/ CZ-1) the data from the cartridge can be either loaded
into its memory or the memory saved onto the cartridge. The cartridge
doesn't actually give you extra patch memory for the big models, it only
allows you to save existing patches and then load them back in. Perhaps the
idea was to have lots of cartridges with different saved sounds that could
be loaded in when necessary, then again the price of the cartridges when
new was probably prohibitive to that idea...

I'm not concerned with expanding patch memory on my CZ-1 as it has 128
patch locations! What I wanted to do was use my 101 to mess around with and
create sounds, store these on the cartridge and then transfer them over to
the CZ-1. Doesn't look like that will happen until I can get the damn RA3
to work with the 101...

And no, I don't want to type in those parameters in over and over -
tedious! I have though written down some my good patches so at least I can
program them in if necessary. Better safe than sorry!

I'd love a decent CZ sysex library program that I could used to load and
save sounds. I recently bought the 'CZ Rescue Kit' off Ebay and haven't had
a chance to fully investigate the programs supplied (it's supposed to have
a CZ librarian that will work with a PC/ XP) Can you recommend a good
program (Windows XP compatible) that I can use to load and save patches
with my CZ's?

Cheers!

Chas
