Back to scsi and the hxc floppy emulator. I have quite recently bought both for 2 other devices, hxc for a circuit bent akai sampler and a scsi cd drive and internal scsi hd for my kurzweil 2500. The hxc is amazing, but does have a few pitfalls. One problem is fixed, as for more expense you can buy one that will slot right in place of a 3.5" drive. I had to case mod to put my drive in and it was a bit of a bodge job. I also had an sd card that turned out to be a little unstable-it is more stable with certain cards-check the site.

The way it works is you create empty disks on your pc, fill up your sd card with these disk files and put it in the hxc. These files are a bit larger than the equivilent floppy-my 1.44mb emulated disks are more like 2mb per disk. You can then save/load each file like its an individual floppy. It still takes an age to read or write as its a virtual floppy drive.

The big issue for you is its not currently a supported device. This is not the end of the world though, the developer is very helpful and will do all he can to get it sorted-Presumably the more supported devices the more sales for him. There is a disk analysis program that helps you build the right disk file types, but id assume theres no guarantee the hxc will work with an unsupported device.

Scsi is really cool but pretty pricey. I completely gave up on finding a mac compatible scsi interface-theyre not made any more so youre looking at £150+ second hand. Theyre more readily available for windows based pcs but be aware drivers are unlikely to be up to date, so you may need to go for dual operating system if youre running a modern pc.

Having 2 zip drives, 1 scsi 1 usb is the common way of doing things and its what i will probably be doing. I have installed an internal hd, which i can write to and read from. I hae a scsi cd drive. Its actually a cdrw drive, but i cant write to it. Its handy for getting large pre edited samples to the kurzweil by burning disks using the cd drive on my mac, but doesnt really give me what i wanted.

  Hope this helps
