Hiya, Trust me if you have used a DSS-1 it is a synth more than a sampler it has f**k all memory for a start but enough to sample analogue waveforms in and obviously the digital synth section plus the res filters and twin DDL's which can be made to chorus/thicken up the sound. The Jupiter 8a is the midi one I bet it broke down loads prob like the OB8/Prophet5/Memorymoog et al of similar era but I wouldn't bother with a Jupiter 6 even though they all have midi they just don't sound as good as the JP8 I'd rather have a JX8P than a JP6 personally even though they do have a DCO's but thats just me.
