I can only speak to the VZ-8m, but maybe its the same. I will check, but I am pretty sure that at power down the sysex enable reverts to disabled and memory protect reverts to on. Whatever the case, it shouldn't drive you nuts--when you go to save, just enable those settings you want. That's the best advice I can give. As for the channel, I will have to check.
