Hi , does anyone know if the vz10m auto saves channel and sysex ' on ' settings in its memory on boot down or should automatically ? do i need to save these with a patch ? keeps defaulting to channel 1 with sysex turned off.

thanks for any advice....its driving me nuts ...

I can only speak to the VZ-8m, but maybe its the same. I will check, but I am pretty sure that at power down the sysex enable reverts to disabled and memory protect reverts to on.

Whatever the case, it shouldn't drive you nuts--when you go to save, just enable those settings you want. That's the best advice I can give.

As for the channel, I will have to check.

have a vz-10m at power off it does revert back to mem protect on.Every time you turn it on you have to set it to the settings you want. Its just how it is.I use midi-ox to load banks.Always have to set to chanel 1 ,mem protect off ,and load.

OK--I just went through most of the TOTAL CONTROL parameters for you. I compared which parameters reset themselves at power down and which were retained in memory. I am sure the VZ-10m has different settings but maybe the parameter retention is the same.

00 - MASTER TUNE - retained
01 - TRANSPOSE - retained
02 - MEM PROTECT - reset to OFF (I only checked INTERNAL)
03 - SAVE/LOAD - Load
---- CARD/MIDI - retained
---- DATA - retained
04 - CHANNEL - retained
---- TOTAL - retained
05 - MIDI DATA
---- PROGRAM - retained
---- EXCLUSIVE - reset to disabled
---- DEF CONTROL - retained
---- OVERFLOW - retained
06 - CARD FORMAT [not tested]

Anyhow, I hope this helps. I would encourage you to power up, change all the settings, write them down as you go, power down then up, and compare which settings have been reset and which have been maintained.

You should only need to do this once. Just be sure to check each menu items and each submenu item. Feel free to report your results here.

Hope this helps.

Good point: I am pretty sure that the channel of the unit when loading a file has to be the same as when it was saved. (It could be 1 or any other channel number, if I recall correctly.)

I am not set up to test this, but if you have your gear set up, its should be easy to test: Set Channel to 4, Save data, Change Channel to 7, try to Load, Change Channel to 1, try to Load, Change Channel to 4, try to load.
