Multi-channel on VZ-10m

Multi-channel on VZ-10m

2004-09-05 by zog2zog2003

Howdee,

I don't have a manual, and I'm not succeeding at setting up a multi-
channel setup.
For starters, if I hit the Multi-Channel button, the display shows an
internal sound, then POLY=0 is blinking. If I put the cursor on the
0, I can't change the value. The Value slide doesn't change it, or
any other key. So I don't hear that sound. Does it take a keystroke
combination ? The slide will change the channel or level, but not
the poly.

I can't get the cursor on the (OUT1) output field either. If I put
change my keyboard's midi channel, I can hear that someone has put a
sound on a channel or two, but I can't do anything with it.

help!

Thanks,
Pete

The output channel is fixed- channels 1-4 go to OUT1 and 5-8 go to OUT2.
Each set of 4 channels has 8 voices (corresponding to the two sound
generator chips) that are allocated using the POLY parameter. Scroll
through the other channels (using the page up/down buttons) and turn the
POLY parameter down to 0 for channels 1-4, then you can set POLY to 8 on
channel 1- it's locked at 0 on channel 1 because you can't have more than 8
voices assigned for each output/set of 4 channels.

Thanks, I'm outta jail now!

Mine has out1 and out2's for each channel, if the polyphony is
available. Right now I'm using channels 1-3, with a different pair
of sounds on each channel. The specs for VZ-10m I read, said it's 8-
part multitimbral. I guess you don't get the 16 voices in multi mode.

Well, you get all the 16 Voices unless you need 16 Mono Voices ;)

By golly,
You Are Right!

Now I'm happier. Is it like you can't store multis? Seems like it's
a workspace, and you don't save a bank of them.

Thanks,
Pete

You can have 8 Voices per Output 1 (A1-D1) and 8 Voice for output 2 (E1-H1).
Multis can't be stored, not even on a RAM Card, I think only the VZ-8 can do
this. Anyway It seems sounddiver is able to send/receive multis, so I guess it's
possible to store them as part of the dump, what I haven't tried yet...
