I haven't noticed any of this. It's possible that you have an early OS revision or something in yours.

I think I had that when bombarding the synth with certain controllers. Maybe the VZ is somehow connected to a synth sending certain messages like active sense, for instance the K5000... Yeah, that can make a bunch of stuff screw up or crash. I remember purposefully doing it once, by creating a really slow sequence (20 bpm) on an EPS with a bunch of mashed keys and fast controller data (pitch and mod wheels, plus foot pedal) and gradually speeding it up until I started getting error messages like * SYSTEM ERROR * on the modules I had hooked up, finally crashing the EPS too.

yes, indeed the k5k is the masterkeys for my humble gear. Also the vz is connected to a midi thrubox. Well i guess the vz is not very "up-to-date" and can´t handle that much midi data ( i often use atari editor too ). Maybe i should do reset on it too... As you mentioned it - how can i see which OS version is on my unit? best, phono --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, "Summa" <flotorian@f...> wrote: > I think I had that when bombarding the synth with certain controllers. Now that you mention it, I seem to recall a few months ago (when people were posting VZ patches) having the problem of a sluggish response. I don't recall the other problems, or how I resolved it-- but I did resolve it. I suggest loading in patches (VC+OP) that don't have the problem, then re-loading patches that were problematic. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but if your VZ was OK before, I don't think its a faulty OS. If I remember more of the details of the problem and solution, I will post them. Let us know if you get it solved by loading a good bank first. --Steve --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, "phonophobie" <sidstation@h...> wrote:

well as you now mention it, these things seem to happen only on a few patches. especially one patch does very strange reactions on midi notes. so it maybe has something to do with the editor software i used on different patches. Is it possible that these patches contain bogus data? I doubt there is a setting which cause these odd note behavier... i`ll have a closer look on this soon. thanks ! phono :] --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, "steve_the_composer" <smw-mail@p...> wrote:

As you mentioned it >- how can i see which OS version is on my unit? As far as I know, Casio didn't offer OS updates. The ROM chips inside aren't even socketed (I'm pretty sure at least) which would make it very inconvenient to upgrade. This isn't to say that there weren't new OS revisions and bugfixes during the life of the VZ, but at least there were no official updates, and any changes that were made weren't publicized.

yep, never saw an update for casios on the net, too. I was just wondering how to see a posiible os version, though.... it´s somewhat a shame that casio went out of the synth buisness -i think the vz was their nicest synth. also it was one of their last developments i think I can confirm now, some of the bugs on my vz seems to come from faulty patches, which i programmed with atari crap... i just opened these, and they contain odd stuff... Seems he doesn´t like (controller)data that much anyway best... ..phono >editor too ). Maybe i should do reset on it too...
