Hard to retire a VZ-1

Hard to retire a VZ-1

2006-09-24 by Clifton Bryant

Hi all,

My new setup to date is my vz1, 2 vz10m's, laptop music studio or drum
machine and my newest HW to join is my Roland Varios. Not a replacemet
but an expansion to my VZ gear. I don't think nothing replaces a VZ-1.
It's too good of a synth with it's own functionality. If anybody doubt
my words feel free to reply. By the way its been 18 years since I had
it, even a RAM card can last this long also instead of just 5 years?
Every thing is hard to imagine. Now I'm back to spening more time on
them.

But of course, in good environment and regular use
it's pretty normal: I have D-550 which had its
batterty replaced for the first time 6 months ago
(expiry date was set on 1992!). Note that battery is
used only when no external power is on.

Anyway, although I'm not as satisfied with VZ-10M of
mine (like I said in my review everything is like
"packed in programmed halfway thru"), yet I'll never
part with mine, unless Casio will resume iPD synths
and does another, bugfixed VZ (man issue: wacky
envelopes, nightmarish control, and could do with
better PD). :)

It's too good for words of what a VZ-1 can do. Recently I just
ordered a new Roland V-Synth-xt not to kill nor to replace my VZ's,
but to expand them the same way as my musical laptop computer did. I
will use them both as drum machines although I will do way more than
that for advanced musical sound possibilities. Still the VZ stands
out for me as long as I live. Hehehehe.....

i also have a v-synth. i loaded some vz sounds into the it. the
formant parameter is good on simple waves to give the sound some
movement... actually the v-synth became my new padsynth...
