CZ-101 freezes up on powerup

CZ-101 freezes up on powerup

2007-04-10 by lextoevs

Hi,

Just joined to see if i could get some help. My CZ-101 started to freeze up on me on a few
seconds after power-up. When i add power its fine then a few seconds later i hear a high
pitched click come from the inside right near where the AC adapter plugs in. Any Ideas?

thanks!

alex

That click is a mechanical sound rather than an electronic one and is probably coming from a relay or some kind of thermal cutoff device. Are you using the correct power supply?

There is also a classic sound a bad capacitor makes. It whines as it
tries to charge then it snaps when it finally shorts. Best to have a
look. Make sure you have glasses on if you power it up sometimes they
blow up.

i agree that it is likely on the mechanical end of things. i do have the correct power supply
but when i found it, it had a 13v instead of a 9v plugged into it.

thanks!

that might be it. i do not really hear the whine but it does snap after as if it just charged
up. when i found it a 13v instead of a 9v adapter was plugged into it, i got the 9v now...

can't say i can id a capacitor on a board, when i opened it up nothing showed damage.

thanks!
