Hi! Wow - It would be nice to have a source of cloned cartridge cases! I am sure that I have one RA-3 but could not find it in my cellar filled with boxes as my studio is still not completed... If you want to design a replacement cartridge it would be useful to replace the battery buffered RAM with a FerroRAM so that you don't need a battery backup any longer! And as the FerroRAMs are normally larger than the RAMs in the synth cartridges you could implement a bank switch so that you have lets say 8 or 16 banks in one cartridge. This way you can get rid off changing cartridges all the time. As FerroRAM I could recommend the RAMTRON parts: http://www.ramtron.com/products/nonvolatile-memory/parallel.aspx Be sure to select the right type regarding supply voltage ... I also wanted to design such a cartridge for the CZ101 but still found no time for it. But if you want we could design it together... Ciao Peter PS: As you use the CZ101 you might be interested in a "Datadial" for the CZ101. You could implement the datadial as a value "pot". It imitates plus/minus button presses and so makes sound programming a lot easier... So I tried to get one but no-luck! So I found those notorious schematics for a replacement (also the original RA-3 schematic found here) i'm still trying the circuit out but its not so handy balancing the stripboard on the connector every time I need to plug it in. So I'm going to do a proper etched version of it but I cant find a decent case for the cartridge or know exactly how the case worked. My day job is mouldmaking so I can really easily duplicate PU versions of most injection moldings ie the CZ cartrige! hopefully its a classic 80's hollow case with screws and moulded pillar posts? also looking into getting the CZ to charge a 3v NMIH battery everytime its plugged in!
