RE: Digest Number 139 (Name of the synthsizer book)

Jon,

I believe the name of the book was:
Sound Synthesis: Analog and Digital Techniques

A lot of the book consisted of instructions for building analog modules.
It included some explanations of digital technology.
In the quote which I refered to, he was talking about the advantages of
analog envelopes. (exponential envelopes being more musical)

I guess I need to haul out my CZ and test that equation to see how the CZ
realy works.
Maybe the angle thing was just a way of helping people to understand how
rate levels work.

Nathan

Might have to track that book down, sounds interesting.

I don't know, I tend to think that at least the rates are linear on the CZ
since I remember now that diagram in the CZ manual. They probably were
telling the truth, your average Joe Schmoo mid eighties synth user doesn't
think in trigonometry so I'm guessing that's how it really works. Still not
sure that the levels are linear though. Anyway now that you have me
convinced you can't back down!! Hehehe.
