Tech problems: static on slider, plus power turning off.

2016-08-02 by cooneypiano@...

Hi group,

I am not very technically savy and am hoping others can tell me how to eliminate static that occurs when I move the volume slider on my CZ101. I assume there's dirt in there somewhere. Can I just spray something in there? Do I need to open up the keyboard and clean? It's particularly problematic on the 101 b/c the volume is below the pitchwheel so my LH palm rests right next to the volume slider and is constantly touching it by accident.

Also, my CZ1000 randomly turns off while playing. I assume this is some electrical issue way beyond my ability to fix and thus I am thinking of just replacing the board. (I assume it's cheaper to replace than to fix). Anyone else have this experience?

I don't know what you mean by "static"...

For sure cleaning can't make it worse :-) Use special cleaning liquid
with lubrication for cleaning the pots and sliders which you can find
in your country.

Concerning switching off: are you sure it is random? Or does it occur
7 minutes after the last touching the instrument?

If yes, check the setting of APO switch. If you don't want automatic
switching off, switch this function off. (And read the Owner's Manual
more carefully to learn, know and use basic functions of your
instrument.)

If not, there can be lot of reasons for such behavior - PSU problem,
capacitors, oxidized connectors or IC sockets, cracks on PCB and more...
