CZ-1 No Sound – Not Relay?

CZ-1 No Sound – Not Relay?

2016-08-29 by raradna@...

Hi,

My CZ-1 just stopped working. When I power the synth on, the output relay pops up after a few seconds, and I can hear line noise when I turn up the volume fader. However, no sound is produced by playing the keys, or over MIDI. LCD screen, backlight, all buttons and leds seem to work as normal. Any ideas?

Thanks

There is not a 'local control OFF' selection in the CZ1? Electronically it sounds like the notes from the keyboard are not being generated, which means the scanner,or if it has a separate crystal maybe defunct.
Do the buttons, when pressed still generate MIDI program changes?

I used to use mine as a master keyboard, and to the best of my memory, it does have a "local" control. I'll have to hook it up and see. I think it's in a menu under the "MIDI" button.

It isn't. But instrument can receive Local Off command from MIDI.

Presets also don't play? No signal in headphones jack? Try to switch off Chorus....

What about the Foot Volume jack, isn't there some problem? Can you try some volume pedal?

Have you tried to perform Initialization (page 64)? But you will lose your data in RAM...

Are you sure some connector inside the instrument can't be disconnected?

After another initialization, the synth mysteriously started sending and receiving MIDI...
then I discovered that I only needed to re-seat the keyboard ribbon connector . Thanks to everyone who responded!
