know of any famous artists that use VZ, or any famous songs with it? /Ö

I remember seeing a VZ in Vince Clark's Rack when he was touring with Erasure. When I was about 16 I read an article in a Pop-Mag showing him and Andy standing in a very small room under the attic - the first "homestudio" after Yaz(oo). The first 10 Keys of the Keyboard were taped and labeled. Can't remember, maybe letters from A - J or BD, Snare, HH etc. - a Master for a Sampler? ;-) Thought the CZ must be a BIG Synth (lot of plastic buttons!) so I tested it a local Music Store... ehem. The Sounds sucked and it took me about 9 months to buy one (luckily) second hand for 1100 DM. Home again I was the king, even though I did not really understood how to manage to make it sound like Vince did. ;-)

A good effects unit makes a WORLD of difference! In college I once performed live in an auditorium (for a class project) using a $2,000 Lexicon reverb unit borrowed from the school audio-visual department. The CZ sounded like the best synth in the world with that thing! (Not the playing, mind you, but the CZ + expensive Lexicon.) Some really cool effects on that thing... Someday I'll get rich and buy one. Jeremy -- Thought the CZ must be a BIG Synth (lot of plastic buttons!) so I tested it a local Music Store... ehem. Jeremy Pinkham wrote: > A good effects unit makes a WORLD of difference! Very true. Darn, even a good chorus pedal can make a difference, let alone good rack effects. > In college I once > performed live in an auditorium (for a class project) using a $2,000 > Lexicon reverb unit borrowed from the school audio-visual department. > The CZ sounded like the best synth in the world with that thing! We on this list already know that :) > Some really > cool effects on that thing... Someday I'll get rich and buy one. You shouldn't wait to buy a lexicon. There are some real nice budget units out there. Even the Digitech Quad V2 can make a lot of difference, and the Boss VF-1 is even cooler. I do think it's underrated. I recently took the plunge and bought the TC Electronic Fireworx, but it's more like a synth than an effects unit, serious. cheers Maxim PS. Try the "Superchorus" preset on the Digitech unit. It really is super. Like a wall of sound.

Edgar Froese of Tangerine Dream also has two VZ in his Setup. But the Hohner labeled ones. I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned, but They Might Be Giants used a CZ-101 for all of the bass on their first album, and The Rice Face Brothers use a CZ-1000 for most of their bass, as well as sstrings, organ, and odd sounds. that 'guava' album by Ween had cz-101 presets all over it. They really stick out!

Tasmin Archer's "Sleeping Satellite" had a solo courtesy the CZ-101 organ preset, FYI.
