CZ-101 Cartridges and CZ-1 cartridges...same?

CZ-101 Cartridges and CZ-1 cartridges...same?

2002-09-20 by e001d

Hello-

I'm new to the CZ-101 and CZ family and I was wondering is anyone
knew if the CZ-1 cartridges work with the the CZ-101 cartridges? Can
I use the CZ-1 cartridges to store data from the CZ-101? I've got
access to the CZ-1 cartridges and I really hope they will work with
the CZ-101.

Thank for the help in advance!

You can trade those things for small houses in some parts of the world.
Super hard to come by.

COOL!!!!!

YEAH YEAH YEAH! I'm not sure if I have access to more than 1, but I
might, if I do I'll buy as many as possible and then redistribute
them here! thanks alot!

I need a house badly, and I have a very nice Maartist
cartridge, like new, in the original box.

If someone is willing to trade, drop me a line.

not quite....

the CZ-101 cart holds 16 patches. some hold 16 patches x 4 banks, but the
patches are still only available in groups of 16.

the cz-101 carts will NOT store patch names, velocity data, and other data
that only the cz-1 creates.

supposedly, the cz-1 cart (RA-6?) holds 64 patches (in one bank) with all
of the data name-data, velocity-data, etc that is exclusive to the cz-1.

i'm not sure if the RA-6 also holds data for splits and performance modes.

i have a maartists "MusicPack CZ", that holds 4 banks of 16 patches, for
cz-101. if anyone wants to trade that for an RA-6 (or other cz-1 cart),
let me know.

Whoa...

Since I'm still new to the CZ-101 I'm a bit confused with all the
technical language. the CZ-1 Cartridge WILL work with the CZ-101
cartridge system, Right? If not, I could trade you for the CZ-1 (RA6)
cartridge once I get it for the cartridge that you have that DOES
work with the CZ-101?

All I'm trying to do is get more storage space...I don't even think
the CZ-101 stores names or velocity in it's internal settings, so
would this matter if it stored it in a cartridge?

Thanks

yeah, they'll all work, but you might not be getting the full potential
out of them....

a cz-1 cart used in a cz-101 will only be able to store 16 patches. a 4
bank cz-101 cart (like the one i have) can store 64 patches.

see above. i could use an RA-6 (i ~think~ that's the one i need) in trade
for a 4 bank cz-101 cart.

=======
a 4-bank cart will give you 64 patches of storage. a single bank cart will
only be able to store 16 patches. whatever cart you use with a cz-101, the
101 does not support patch-name data or velocity data.

Thanks.

Ok So IF I get this Cartrige, I'll contact you (if it is the RA-6)
and we can trade?

can't help there..

but I'd say an RA-500 card would be a fair trade for my car

(actually that's closer to the truth than I'd like to admit)

I suppose that's been dicsused... But does anybody know the
schematics of such cards? Maybe we can put together a replacement,
a few chips in a small project box.

I have not seen any schemas of those but by looking those pictures of
opened carts they seem to contain 1 memory chip (sram?) with battery
backup , one TTL-chip (address decoder?) and some passives
(condensators+resistors). And some dip-switches for banking logic.

Nothing special on those, should be ralitively easy to design from
scratch. i think.. Allthough it may well be more difficult, as I have
no idea what kind communication there is between Cartridge and Synth.

So, anyone synth+cart owner having time/equpment to snoop around using
logic analyzer and acope?

Hi!

The exact schematic is normally quite simple, as they use standard static CMOS
rams.

Easy standard memory interface.

>So, anyone synth+cart owner having time/equpment to snoop around using

I have a logic ananlyser and a scope but no cartridge.
If anyone could sell me a RA-3 or RA-6 cartridge I would do the job.

I already made this with the Kawai RC-2 cartridge for the K3m synthesizer.
So if anyone needs this schemos to get an idea how this memory cartridges look
let me know and I could send my scanned schematics.

SO PLEASE: If anyone has a RA-3 or RA-6 cartridge that fits for the CZ101 and
wants to sell it so that I can get into the cartridge to extract the schematics
- EMAIL ME!

Ciao
