I know Jim etc have said 'Yes' and whilst this is correct, I would not say it is a perfect match; certainly not for all the classic arpeggiated string/lead sounds.  This is particularly true if you are considering one of the mono Evolvers.

I think your average Trance track relys on lots of poly and lots of super saw type waves.  A very obvious and common choice is the Access Virus.

Having said all of this, the fact that the Evolver synths are not obvious first choices will give your tracks an edge over the competition.
