1. yes 2. yes 3. yes

4. As soon as you save the patch on the master unit, it is transfered to all
slaved units.

I would also add to number (4) that patch edits are sent to the slave units
real time in polychain mode so you don't have to do a save to hear your
edits.

Nice and Catchy !!! Is that all MEK except the drums ? IF so it seems to
sound a little warmer then my PEK/PER. Since I know you have access to the
PEK is this the case, or do my ears deceive or is it your superior patch
programming skills I am hearing :)

Re: [Evolver] Clarification of MEK features needed...

2006-05-05 by Stefan Trippler

It's all MEK except drums. No external FX, just some compressors in Cubase.
The different Evolver models sound absolutely identically.
I think that the patches will be available for download inthe next couple of
weeks.

Cheers

Am I being scammed?

2006-05-12 by Robert Krueger

I'm looking for "presetbandit" who just sold a poly evolver on ebay.
I'm being solicited by a user claiming to be "presetbandit" and sent a
very official looking "second chance" offer from Ebay, as the original
winner bowed out.

It looks very suspicious and is requesting a Western Union payment to
the UK, even though the item was located in California. I sent a
Contact Member to "presetbandit" on ebay, but ebay said it may be
blocked as we have not had any transactions to be speaking to one another.

I figured this person may be on this list and can confirm or deny
whether this is valid.

Here's the link to the item :

Re: [Evolver] Am I being scammed?

2006-05-12 by Robert Krueger

I'm pretty convinced it is a scam, payment request is being made
outside of Ebay and ebay shows no indication of this transaction on
their website.

This was a real good one and almost got me. The Western Union bit
pretty much tipped me off.

I'd like to know how the guy got me email address off of Ebay.

Re: [Evolver] Am I being scammed?

2006-05-12 by Joxer

Sounds like a very obvious scam to me. Payment via Western Union is a huge red flag. Not to mention to the UK...and item was in California?

You are being scammed and do not send anything Western Union! You are not dealing with the orginal ebay seller. Identical scams have been reported always with a Western Union request to a foreign country ( when no Western Union was requested in the orginal) .

I would be suspect of a scam.... probably not by the real seller, but an
imposter. My brother got a couple requests like that, and they wanted a
Western Union payment to Africa and Canada, though the items were in the
US. And besides, presetbandit's preferred method of payment is PayPal, and
nothing on that page says anything about Western Union.

Tell the UK guy you just paid for it, so he can drive to the Western Union
office and pick up nothing :)

See eBay's official statement, "How can I be certain that a seller's
Second Chance Offer is legitimate?":

http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidence/questions/second-chance-legit.html

Not noted here is that legit Second Chance offers have a "Buy It Now"
link in them.

If you decide that you're after a PEK instead of a rack, you could buy mine :-)

YES you are being scammed. I just got jobbed out of a g from somebody send a VERY correct looking "second chance" offer from somebody in London on a machinedrum.
Don't EVER pay with Western Union, there is no backup for you if you get screwed.
Also, a lot of times people will send a "square trade" dealer authentication, but if you enter their number on squaretrade.com they will tell you they have "no record of that user".
Apparently, it's easy to hack peoples accounts on eBay, that's how they send the correct information about what your high bid was. eBay doesn't care, hasn't even responded to my 5 or 6 emails to them.

Re: [Evolver] Am I being scammed?

2006-05-13 by Bernie Kornowicz

My eBay account was recently hijacked by some scumbag. I got a
suspicious "Question from eBay member" email. When I hovered over
the links, I found they all pointed to a Russian website. I reported
it to eBay and found that the expletive deleted was selling items
under my account. Caught them just in time, but if you're not
careful, you could get screwed.

I wish I knew. My guess is that my password was too obvious because
it was related to my ID. I thought the average person would never

It happens when you get an email from someone that is
fake (but you dont know it) and it asks you to log
in...you type in your username and password in what
you THINK is ebay but it's not...once they get it they
turn off all emails going to your account so you dont
get an email saying you're selling a 2005 lamborghini
or a Jupiter 8. So if you get an email even if it's
from ebay dont log onto ebay throught the email...log
onto it through ebays site. It happened to me once but
i caught it within a day and fixed it. I personally
got an email that said someone paid me for something
and didnt get it so i hit the respond button that took
me to the fake ebay login...then they had my username
and password. I hope this helps, there are a bunch of
scammers on ebay now...

I am presetbandit and I never sent you an email, so you are being
scammed. I sold the PolyEvolver to a guy in Oakland and he got it
today and already left me positive feedback for it. I live in
Monterey, CA and usually only accept Paypal, but money orders for
Josh.
I had this scenario happen to me with a Allen and Heath V6 mixer on
Ebay, but I will only use Paypal.
I hope you did not send any money?

smart to change passwords on a regular basis now a days.

These days I assume EVERYTHING is a scam, and only answer messages from within eBay. I always report these spoofs (forward the email to spoof@... or spoof@...), and if you are able to view the actual URL of the "click here to sign in" link you would be amazed what comes up. Unfortunately you are correct, a lot of these spoofs look very real....

Thats not always the way...

I *never* respond to those kinds of emails. I'm the IT guy where I work
so I *always* double-check any link or URL. Most of the time just
mousing over a bogus link is enough to reveal its true nature in the
status bar. Also, be careful of "secure" sites that don't show the ssl
"lock icon" in your browser...

Imagine my suprise when I found someone selling a multi-thousand dollar
item on my account with a one day auction! In the listing there was
something about "only contact me at xxxxx@... because my eBay
mail is not working now..."

Probably the person hacked my password because it was two dictionary
words strung together.

Since then, I have changed my password to a nonsense combination of
letters and numbers, upper and lower case.

The best defense is a strong ofense.

Lets get back to Evolvering now, hmm? ^_^

Best Regards, James

Evolver vs SID Station

2006-05-14 by donny van zandt

Anyone know if the Evolver is able to really crunch out some SID Stationy lo-bit sounds? And maybe have a tip or two on how to start build some sounds from the core patch? Just got my Evolver, heard some awesome sounds on the presets and picked one up, still rolling thru both manuals, trying to get used to the interface.

Thanks! And nice to be here--

Hello all. I'm very close to purchasing the MEK and need to make absolute sure that I can
do #s 1 & 4 below:

1 being - that I can play softsynths and other outboard synths via MIDI POLYphonically
from the MEK and
4 being - that I can later purchase a rack PE and then have a 5 voice synth that I can play
from my MEK.

I'm sorry for the duplication here of Stefan's answer below but I need to make absolute
sure before I drop the $$ on the MEK as it will be my main playing synth for a little while.

thanks!

I'm in the same boat here - want to purchase a MEK and use my desktop
evolver for duphonic action. My questions - do I need to update my OS
on the desktop Evolver? Will the knobs on the MEK also affect the
same parameters on the desktop (i.e. filter cutoff on MEK also adjusts
desktop evolvers filter cutoff correspondingly)?

Thanks!!!

Hi there,

You will need to update your tabletop to version 3.0 software if you
wish to use the MEK for 2-voice polyphony. You can use a lower
version software version but the 2 voices won't sound identical.

Once you have the same patches loaded in both units you can edit the
tabletop using the MEK and everything works flawlessly.

I was sorta hesitant to buy a MEK (my girlfriend asked, "so it's
basically the same as your tabletop version but with knobs and keys"
and yes while true, it is so much more. It has really opened the
instrument and having 2 voices for the pads/leads is HEAVEN.

I recommend making the plunge.

Re: [Evolver] new member asks: Clarification of MEK features needed...

2006-12-08 by Barzin Daragahi

All the knobs send out MIDI data, so you can map out to your soft synths, but unless your hardware matches your MEK, it won't be that great to tweak other hardware with fixed MIDI CC. Other evolvers on your chain will react to the knob twists, after touch, etc. Chaining is a simple concept really, you just send midi data to a sound module with a similar midi mapping. Of course each evolver on your chain need it's own audio channel.
Hmm, interesting though, you're choosing a MEK as your main synth and controller. That's stretching it; possible with lots of limitations. If you're in front of computer anyway, get a Evolver desktop and one of those great Notation Controllers. Best of both worlds at your finger tips. Cheaper solution too.
In my opinion, an electronic musician needs to spend good money a Controller and Monitors/Speakers. Everything else is just a matter of your mood. But the need for good control and good output is constant.
Also, I own a PEK myself. If you are certain you want extra voices in the future, absolutely save-up and get the PEK, it's much cleaner and more flexible to have all your voices in one unit.
Yea know, most likely we all will just pay around with the evolver sounds for a while, learn it, love it and then find another great synth later on. No reason for all this capacity planning and what-not. These things come and go, occasionally somebody finds a GENETIC bound with an instrument, but that rarely happens.
My 2 cents
