Hi, You can get a lot of good stuff for under $1500. You might check out Drumbalaya's site (http://www.drumbalaya.com/). Ed Morin lists a bunch of kits that he's put together at different price points--one of them being $1500 and under. The DTXpress II is certainly a viable option. But you could also get a Hart kit with either the DTXPIIU or Roland TD6 module and still come in well under $1500. A Pintech ConcertCast set with the Yamaha or Roland module is also worth serious consideration. As far as bang for the buck is concerned, most of the people in this group will tell you that the DTXpress is unbeatable, but with a little financial wiggle room, you can afford to entertain a few more choices, such as whether to get gum-rubber or mesh-head pads or whether to mix and match cymbals. Ed at Drumbalaya will give you the benefit of his expertise by email or on the phone. MIDI is MIDI. The real questions are how much do you want to spend and how do you want your kit to play. One thing's for sure: You're going to have a blast. Ed --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "clerkdanteca <clerkdanteca@y...>" <clerkdanteca@y...> wrote: > Hey Guys, > > I have drummed before.
