Ok, let me see if this helps any: I have a BOSS MPD-4 (here's a picture I found quickly through GOOGLE: http://www.timberwolf.us/images/MPD-4.jpg). This is unit has a single pad on it and inputs for 3 more pads. It outputs MIDI and I run a MIID cable from it to the MIDI-IN on my DTXPressII unit. I then set the MPD-4 to channel 10, then use the "sound" knob to change the note numbers it transmits till I hear the sound I'm hunting for (cowbell, conga, china-boy etc.). After doing this, the module is quite capable of playing that sound when hit. I can also reset it for hand-claps or ride-bell or whatever just by pusing the "sound set" button and tapping the pad while I rotate the knob. As you slowly rotate the knob, you hear different voices. I will be getting some pads for it so I can use it as an extra 4 inputs for my set eventually, but for now I just use it as one velocity- sensitive input for the DTXpressII module. Is this what you are trying to do with the MIDIkiti etc.? If so, have you tried placing the output from the MIDIkiti into a sequencer that has the ability to show you EXCATLY what is coming out of the KITI? I imagine if I were trouble shooting the rig you guys have been describing, I would setup like this: MIDIKiti--->USB_MIDI_In--->PC_W/Sequencer-->USB_MIDI_Out-->DTXpress Then, while recording from the PC/with sequencer software, I would strike the MIDIKiti and record the output. Then (depending on the sequencer program you use) go back through the event list and see exactly what is being transmitted. In fact, if you did this setup with the PC/Sequencer set to MIDI-Through, you would be able to hear what was playing and then identify the weird "truck horn" sound or whatever it is you think you are hearing. Something just occured to me, could it be the "truck horn" sounds you are hearing might be somthing like the standard "closed-hat" sound being pitch-shifted down 4 octaves or so? Maybe there is an octave switch or pitch change or some such on the KITI? Also, is the Kiti ONLY going out to the DTXpress and not looped back IN to the MIDIkiti from the DTXpress? If so, it might be that you're seeing some strange multi-trigger thing if you have a loop like that... Again, any of the above scenarios could be discovered by examining the event data in the track the sequencer captured. :) Vern -- Vern Graner CNE/CNA/SSE | "If the network is down, then you're Senior Systems Engineer | obviously incompetent so why are we Texas Information Services | paying you?
