Re: [DTXpress] Re: Looking for DTXpress II , MIDI help

Brett,
Thank you for the input. I love my Santa Cruz card,
too. Here's the problem: 2 different brand "other
external midi devices" and the SAME PROBLEM? I have
gone to the head of the mountain on this one...namely
Dave Ksycki...and he said these modules should work
with the DTX. What is happening is my case, is the
midi note that is correct is reading as an orchestral
midi note...not a percussion midi, which means, what
ever "other external midi device" is plugged into the
DTX is speaking a different language to the DTX, and
it is interperting it into the wrong voice. It was
Dave Ksycki that stated MAYBE there was a flaw in the
module circuitry, and to contact Dave Jewell-HEAD of
Marketing and he's the man to contact the engineer's
who built the DTX...maybe they can confirm a problem,
or help us figure out what we are doing wrong. We are
not pointing fingers, but it sure seems funny to me
when the user manual states the DTX can be plugged
into "an external midi device"-which by the way the
KAT and PM-16 are, respectively, and neither one of
them work,SOMETHING is wrong. Especially when you
combine the years of experience with just the members
alone in this forum. I have talked to the builder of
the Kat MidiKITI, and even the default midi notes
should have translated into the proper voice. Then
you gat the Yamaha Apps Specialist, who couldn't get
HIS assigned midi note for a drum using a keyboard to
sing a percussion/drum sound. All this taken into
consideration, especially Dave K.'s suggestion to call
Mr. Jewell, is it any wonder we are questioning the
integrity of our Yamaha modules?
I HOPE you are right...I have spent over $300 just on
the Kiti, stand and bracket...that's NOT counting the
rack modifications, and pads I CAN'T use because of
this problem.
Respectfully,
Jade
