Hello all, I have the origiginal DTXpress I kit that I'm looking to upgrade the brain/sound module. I'm looking at the DTXpressIII brain as a replacement and also the Alesis DM Pro with my pad set. I lso have upgraded dual pads for the snare and hat along with dual trigger cybals and bell pad. Any problems of incompatatabiltiy? Thanks, Steve

No probs with a new Yamaha brain. No idea with the Alesis. I Bet Drumbalaya can help. www.drumbalaya.com On Thu, 07 Oct 2004 16:50:51 -0000, zapaxe <a_zapelectric@...> wrote: > > > Hello all, > > I have the origiginal DTXpress I kit that I'm looking to upgrade the > brain/sound module. Hi and thanks for the reply, Ok, so that's two confirmations that the Yamaha DTXpressIII will be fine with all my Yamaha Pads. Acording to OGD, he thought he read somewhere that the Alesis DM Pro may not be able to handle the Yamaha Dual Triggers for Pad/Cymbals and likely won't choke on the Cymbals. As it turns out I bid on BOTH the Alesis DM Pro AND DTXpressIII module and won both on ebay today! So if all go's well I should find out soon enough. Ooops 'lol' Well all comments are still appreciated;) Steve --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, Creighton Higgins <creightonh@g...> wrote: > No probs with a new Yamaha brain. No idea with the Alesis. The Alesis modules have only mono inputs; they do not offer choking or rims/edges as a matter of course. However, the DM Pro allows a trick for choking a stereo cymbal, whereby a second input can be used to shut off the sound accessed in another input. I know that Visu-lite makes a cymbal to take advantage of it. I haven't been able to contribute much to the board for a while, but it's good to see it growing and active. Hello to all the regulars, and welcome to the newcomers. Ed

Hi Ed ad thanks for your reply, Ah, so I'll have to do some experimentation for the chokes. The only real reason I need dual trigger inputs is because in the DTXpress I kit's there are well, limited trigger inputs! I 'think' the Alesis DM Pro has 16 trigger inputs? I also have all my old single trigger pads to connect that are laying around. Though you say mono INPUTS...Not confirmed is IF the DM Pro infact has mono or stereo 'samples' or not? Thank again, Steve --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "emf" <liberatusvirus@y...> wrote: > > --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "zapaxe" <a_zapelectric@h...> wrote: > > > > Hi and thanks for the reply, > > > > Ok, so that's two confirmations that the Yamaha DTXpressIII will be > > fine with all my Yamaha Pads. > > Acording to OGD, he thought he read somewhere that the Alesis DM > Pro > > may not be able to handle the Yamaha Dual Triggers for Pad/Cymbals > > and likely won't choke on the Cymbals. > > As it turns out I bid on BOTH the Alesis DM Pro AND DTXpressIII > > module and won both on ebay today! Great thanks again Ed, I have an Alesis QS7.1 keyboard that has decent drum sounds I 'think' some of the DM5 sounds? So I should be happy with the sounds in the DM Pro. The Yamaha DTXpress I sounds are ok on only a few samples, most of the snare and kicks are horrible and I only use a few! NOTE; I also saw that the Alesis DM Pro has an expandable option...? I don't know if this is on only selected models/versions or what, but I sure would like to be able to load 'quality' samples into a drum module. At 20 bit I think that's the highest of any drum module I know of. I wish I could get a snare sound of some of the new CD's I've been listening to on the newer bands, like Hoobastank, Dishwalla, Puddle Of Mud, Train, Saliva and others. I'm an oldie at 43, but I like to listen to some new bands along with my Ol' Classic Rock & Easy Listening stuff;) Steve --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "emf" <liberatusvirus@y...> wrote: > > --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "zapaxe" <a_zapelectric@h...> wrote: > > > Though you say mono INPUTS...Not confirmed is IF the DM Pro infact > > has mono or stereo 'samples' or not? > > > > I think that some, if not most, of the DM Pro's samples are stereo,
