I Need A Quick Tutorial

I Need A Quick Tutorial

2004-11-18 by Dennis

Hi Guys...
I appreciated your response to my last question... This seems to be a
very helpfull & knowledgeable group... I must say again I am total
newbie to e-drums... I love em and find them utterly fascinating...
Ok to the point here...

I need a tutorial in .syx files... I've noticed a bunch of them
listed in the files section of this group... I am assuming that these
files are custom drum kits created by the many smarter than me
drummers in this group that can be loaded into the DTXpress user drum
kit area...

What software do I need to install on my computer to download and use
these files ??

Will I be able to use this same software to store my custom drum kits
on my computer ??

How do I get the info from my computer to my DTXpress II brain and
visa-versa ?? (just direct me to the manual section)

As always guys, I totally appreciate your time...

Dennis.....

Hi Dennis,

Go to our sister site at:

www.dtxpressions.com <http://www.dtxpressions.com>

There you will find the dtxchange program and instructions for it's use.
It's pretty straight forward. Just make if you go the midi connector route
that the "IN" cable plugs into the "OUT" jack of the module and the "OUT"
cable, plugs into the "IN" jack of the module.

Hey OGD... Thanx a million... I checked out the sister site and am
totaly excited... I have a couple more questions and they're
probably going to make some of you laugh... I can't tell if my
computer has a MIDI connection... I looked at the back of it last
night and the only connections for sound are the 1/8" mic, speakers &
headphone jacks... There is an empty connection label "seriel" My
son told me that my sound card is built into the motherboard on my
computer... If the serial port will not work for the MIDI connection
do any of you guys know if I can add another sound card to my
computer with a MIDI connection... I do have an available slot... I
just don't know if it would work with an existing sound card...

Once again I appreciate your time...

Dennis.....

Dennis,

You don't appear to have a MIDI connection. The soundcard, usually of
the Soundblaster variety, would have a multi-pin joystick connection
to which you could connect a MIDI adaptor, easily found at any local
computer store or online music store. Many computers, like Dells,
that have sound capability built into the motherboard disable it
automatically when you insert a dedicated card. Alternatively, if you
have a USB port, you can get a Midiman Midisport or a Yamaha UX Midi
cable to do the job.

Thanx & Thanx Again... I just remembered I have a joystick
controller connection in the front of my computer... Looks like all
I may need is a MIDI adaptor & the MIDI cord... I hope they have
them at Frys, thats where I'm headed right after work...

Thanx Again...
