Hi chat,
The DTXtremeIIS is just a flat-out more versatile kit than the
DTXpressIII kits, with arguably better voices. The module allows more
control over the individual sounds that are programmed into it, and it
also permits you to import your own samples from elsewhere. MIDI is
basically just MIDI, but DTXTIIS implements it with more aplomb. The
guys at Drumbalaya are aces, and Ed Morin, I'm sure, would answer all
of your questions. But let's not overload him just yet. If you have
particular questions about the differences between the two kits and
about MIDI, ask them here first. OGD, my co-moderator, is the foremost
expert on the DXtremeIIS, and he should see anything that you ask
eventually. I don't know from your post what exactly you're trying to
find out about MIDI, but we should be able to accommodate you once you
narrow it down a little bit.
