Hooking up the DTX to a computer

Hooking up the DTX to a computer

2005-08-02 by Mose

Hello again;

Here's my second question:

Is anyone using the 8 Pin Mini-DIN to D-Sub 9 (serial port) hookup with their DTX?
I'm having trouble finding the cable locally, and will probably just order one off the internet.
How does it work out compared to the USB to MIDI hookup?

What is a good USB to MIDI cable to use. I read where the Yamaha one sucks, so I'm looking for something else.
Any recommendations?

Thanks

Mose

Hi Mose,

Most people use the MIDI option, whether via a USB connection of some
kind or a MIDI cable to their soundcard (often with a MIDI adapter if
to a Soundblaster type with a joystick connection). As you say, the
TO Host cable can be hard to find, and it doesn't offer any
advantage. I don't recall that the Yamaha MIDI cable/conduit
offerings have any special problems, but you might run a search of
our archives on a particular product to check.

Only if you don't have a MIDI! I bought one for my laptop. It is a
null modem cable. I bought it from Lindy, online, part number 30249.

Keith.
