i'm new to the dtxpress and have an old kit (about 5 years old). the
volume is so low. is there a way to increase the volume or do i have
to do it pad by pad and drum kit by drum kit? can anyone remind me
how to reset to factory settings?

Factory reset is in the Utility menu: UT SYSTEM Factory Set then press
enter (page 53 of the DTXpress 1 user manual).

Is the volume low on headphones or through an amplifier?

You have selected a looped sound for the pad (L 12). Go to the Voice
menu for that pad and select a different sound, one that isn't from
the Drum Loop (L) list (or set the voice to zero). If you want a
digerdo, you could try E 19 in the effects group.

By all means try that, but I don't think it works for the "loop"
sounds (ones listed with L in the voice data) - I think they are
unstopable!

Keith,
I'm new here too, but while we're on the subject... my DTXpress III is input to my PC soundcard, then back out the same card via 1/8 inch jacks. I get acceptable volume through headphones, but can't come near producing even what would be considered a decent volume through my 5.1 surround. Is there a proper way to go into a PC to get respectable output, or am I facing a typical "analog-to-digital-to-analog" issue here?
Thanks,
doxxon

Have you tried the DTXpress straight into the 5.1 sound system? I
used to run my DTXpress through some Logitech Z2300 speakers amd it
was plenty loud enough (I used the headphone socket on the front of
the DTXpress). If yours is ok when plugged into the speakers direct
then it is a PC problem, which I am probably not much help with.

However, it is worthwhile checking your settings for volume and mixing
levels on the PC. Double click the volume control icon (not single
click) and you should get a lot of sliders to adjust (I get 7 on my
PC). Turn them all up to full - that usually works for me!

Are you using the 1/4" jack sockets at the rear? Is the volume turned
up full on the DTXpress?

While the headphone volume can be a little low for some headphones,
the line output volume is usually ok, provided the DTXpress volume
control is turned up.

Yes, i am using 1/4 jack. the dtxpress was turned all way up. the gain
is still low level. so i used gain control to lift it up, it almost
is all the way up, then it started generalte some white noise if you
do not play. i turned the gain down a bit, but voice is very weak.

thanks for help. thanks,tom

Tom,

There is a master volume setting in the menus "UT TG MASTER Volume".
Mine is set at 127 (the maximum) - try checking that.

Tom,

Not much difference between 112 & 127.

What mixer are you using? Is it that the DTXpress is too quiet or
that the keyboard is really too loud? If you feed the DTXpress
straight into the amp (ie not through the mixer) is the volume ok then?

Keith.

Keith, found the problem, there are two modes, one for pratic and one
for live. thanks though. tom

Tom,

That option changes the function of the volume controls so you can
independently adjust the snare & kick without holding down the shift
key, and adjust the cymbals & toms by holding down the shift key.
However, if you had accidentally gone into live mode and had the
accomp. & click volumes set low then the kick and snare would be weak.

Glad you found it.

Keith.
