I have a PCY150S that has stopped working. All three zones produce the ride. I have read other discussions about this and they all suggest opening the cymbol up and cleaning the ribbon cables. Has anyone here done this, If so... How hard was it and was it successful? Thanks, Gary

It seems a little strange for the edge and bell to both stop working simultaneously. The cable would do that, as would the module trigger settings - check it is still set to the correct pad type. If you have another 3 zone pad (even a snare) plug it into the ride input to make sure the input is doing the correct thing. Also, try swapping the cable. In the photos section there are pictures of most pads in pieces - kindly done by oldguydrummer. It shoud give you an idea about how they are put together if all else fails. I have taken apart the PCY65 and it is pretty easy. Keith.

Keith, Thanks for the advice. I will give that a shot. I did, however, already take the cymbal apart and clean the ribbon cables. It worked for a brief second but then went back to old results with one difference. Now I occasionally get the bell on all three zones. Nt sure what the heck is going on, but I appreciate the advice. Thanks, Gary --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "keith1200rs" <keith@...> wrote:

Gary, It sounds like you have a bad connection in the cymbal. The piezo is connected to the connector tip. The bell and edge both connect to the ring, with one of them having a 10k resistor in series. It sounds like that connection is the problem. Look for cracked solder joints and wires which seem a bit floppy - the can break just inside the insulation so they look connected but aren't. The bell and edge are simply switches. Keith

Thanks again Keith. I looked for cracked joints and didn't see any. I used a multimeter to check for continuity and it seemed fine. So, in desperation, I pulled the Ribbon Cables out again and used a Q-tip and alcohol in an attempt to clean them again (No residue came off this time),put them back into the connectors (Shorter one is actually in crooked). Put it back together. And P.F.M. It works great again (for Now). Thanks again for all of your advice. Gary --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "keith1200rs" <keith@...> wrote:

Gary, I'm glad it's sorted now. I can't remember what the ribbon connectors are like, but if they are a push fit (without a locking action) then I guess they are a bit naff. The locking ones put a lot more pressure on the contacts and probably a lot more reliable. Keith.
