TP-100

TP-100

2015-06-19 by Stephen Scott

Hi all,

New member here. I recently bought a DTXpress ii, which I'm really happy with, and I've just got a nice TP-100 to complement it. However, I have a couple of minor issues, and I wonder if anyone in the group can help me.

1) Am I correct in thinking that the red knob has no function when paired with the DTXpress ii ?

2) I can't consistently get the TP-100 pad and rim to sound simultaneously. Approx. 1-3 times in 10 simultaneous hits, the pad does not sound. The problem may be that there is no separate sensitivity control for each zone, only one for the whole pad, unless I'm missing something. Is there any way round this?

Hi Stephen,

Welcome.

1) correct - the red knob does nothing on the DTXpress II

2) The TP100 should work perfectly on the DTXpress II. I assume you have the pad type (in the trigger settings) set as "TP snare"? What do you mean by " I can't consistently get the TP-100 pad and rim to sound simultaneously"? You will get one or the other sound, not both. If you want a rim shot you hit the third zone - you don't try to hit the rim and pad simultaneously as you would with an acoustic drum.

Keith.

Thanks for replying Keith,

Ah, that makes sense. What I meant was this: Say I simultaneously hit the rim and pad together 10 times. 8 times, I will hear both sound, 2 times I will only hear the rim sound. So, I guess that, although they 'sound' like they're playing together, there is a slight delay in one of the hits, enough that both sounds will come through (SelfRej is set very low, so this is likely).

Stephen,

You really shouldn't try hitting the rim and pad simultaneously - hit one or the other. There is some gating which will blank the sound if there is a rim switch closure in a certain window after the pad hit. I cannot remember the time window but I mapped it out a long time ago with a dual channel arbitrary waveform generator.
