Adding Pintech Cymbals and Y-Splitter Problem-Help!

Adding Pintech Cymbals and Y-Splitter Problem-Help!

2001-12-15 by mike_bowden_uk

I've just added two Pintech trigger cymbals to my DTXpress, with a Y-
splitter into the 9/10 input. The y-splitter is 2x mono female to 1x
stereo male. The problem is that both cymbals trigger the same
channel, channel 9. Is there a setting in the brain which causes
this, or do i have a faulty/incorrect y-splitter?
Thanks for any help,
Mike

Hi Mike,

It's early here, and the coffee hasn't quite taken
hold, but I can't think of a setting that could cause
this, but here's a thought. If you press the Trigger
button (assuming that you have that mode selected that
makes the brain display which pad is being struck)
does it show that both pads are registering on input
9? If so I would suspect the Y connector. If it does
show inputs 9 & 10 being struck, we'll have to open
our eyes wider and get into the manual.

Here are my 2 cnts worth..

Are you sure that you are getting two separate sounds, maybe you are
getting the two pads working , but using the same sound. as mike said
below.. press the trigger switch and it will tell you which pad is
being used and the setting in it... one way to check if all the pads
are sett up properly..

Solution to Adding Pintech Cymbals and Y-Splitter Problem-Help!

2001-12-24 by mike_bowden_uk

Hi everyone,
just thought i'd update on this
The problem was that the Y-Splitter was incorrect, the two mono
females went to the tip of the stereo male, and not one to the tip
and one to the ring...i made myself a DIY splitter and it works fine.
My next project is adding better pads to the kit. I've taken my old
acoustic kit, sawn each of the 12" and 13" toms in half, to get 4
snare and tom pads. I've converted one with a Pearl mesh head and a
DDrum Red-shot trigger, and it work amazing! Its incredibly
sensitive, and a lot easier on the wrists. If anyone wants more
details, let me know.

Mike-

I would like more details on your setup using mesh head and the Red-
Shot triggers. Are you doing any dual triggering? Was is easy to set
up the DTXpress to use the Red-Shot triggers?

Any infor would be appreciated.
