anyone know how to get the chick sound in the hihats?????

anyone know how to get the chick sound in the hihats?????

2002-03-21 by otacon28us

i was recently designing a new kit on my module(1 0f 2 that is)
anyways i started building with a basic kit in the user kits and i
noticed that every other time when i pedal the hats i get the chick
sound from it,does anyone know how i can adjust this to do this
everytime i pedal the hats??i'm sure it's just some basic settings
change but i didn't really have time to mess with it much so i
figured i'd just ask the group ,rather than leafing through the most
of the times useful manual..

thanks guys,and girls,
            sam(otacon28)

What sound (if any) do you get the other times?
Is it absolutly one time chick, the next not etc? even when played
slow and deliberate?

ok i guess i could have described this better (sorry) anyways what is
happening is if i'm doing some open&closed stuff on the hihat, and i
stop, and just push the pedal it will do the chick sound that acoustic
hats would do if you just pedaled the hat without striking the
cymbal, but after the initial time that it does it i can't get it to
do it again when i press the pedal again.i'm thinking it's just a
setting that may be muting it out after the first time, but i'm not
sure.now as far as any other voices being produced after the first
chick sound, there isn't any other sound that emerges.. now i can get
the foot splash sound to come from the pedal as well i just cant get
the chick sound .. my pedal isn't a yamaha pedal it's one i made for
my kit,and tried recently with a dtxtreme module ,and it worked on
it,so the extreme module having yamahas technology as well i figured
that it should work on my module as well

thanks,

Hey Sam,

This insn't the splash sound that you're running up on
is it? If you adjust the HH Offset (I hope that's
what it's called) up or down, does it change? What I
was thinking is that maybe it is the splash sound, but
the sustain may be set real low on that sound,
possibly resulting in a click sound? Then again,
maybe I shouldn't respond before the coffee has had a
chance to take hold! Walt

Sam and Walt,

I really don't know if this helps, but I'm using a slightly renegade
hi-hat set up. The controller is the HH60, but the cymbal is a
DrumTech pole pad, which behaves like nothing in the Yamaha arsenal
that I know of. The abnormality shows itself in HH sensitivity
(manual p. 47). Using anything like the default setting for Yamaha
pads created all sorts of inconsistenies in opening and closing.
Eventually, I found that reducing the sensitivity setting to zero
solved all my problems. Don't ask me why. Like I said, I have no
idea whether any of this applies in Sam's case.

got it going now!!!! it was actually a combination of both
suggestions that solved the problem,so thanks go out to both you,and
walt for helping me through my lil hihat dilema,so synapse of the
solution that worked on my pedal configuration is as follows hh
offset= 0 ot ,and the hh sensitivity is set also to 0.. i agree with
it being very strange that it works with the hhh sens. all the way to
0,but hey if it solves my problem with the hats sounding when pedaled
then it's cool by me

once again thanks guys,
