Hi all My neighbours are already knocking on the walls because of my newly bought dtxpressII. I wonder if its because of the noice it makes (only listening through headphones) or the vibrations from the rack and pedals, maybe its better to have a fat carpet under the drums or something. Anyone got any ideas ? i would really appreciate it...

Life really sucks when the neighbors complain about a digital set :) Yes - it's the kick usually but if your apartment has thin wall or little carpet padding everything travels through the concrete. You should be able to bang the crap out of your drums til the wee hours. My solution was to buy a house. Besides that i'm no help but i do feel your pain ;) "leffelejon " wrote:

I've heard of people going to incredibly elaborate lengths to muffle the noise. Someone actually built a platform on a foundation of tires. I'll bet he's single. The archives are loaded with complaints and suggestions from apartment dwellers and house owners with unhappy family members. --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, Ken Anthony <info@r...> wrote: > Life really sucks when the neighbors complain about a digital set :) > > Yes - it's the kick usually but if your apartment has thin > wall or little carpet padding everything travels through the > concrete. > > You should be able to bang the crap out of your drums til the wee hours. > > My solution was to buy a house. A thick carpet won't help that much, contact noise still gets throug.
I've got a great tip for you that unfortunately takes some woodcrafting
skill. What I did was get some wooden strips (about 5mm thick, six
centimeters wide and forty centimeters long) and glued a half cilinder of
wood at each end:
+-----------------------------------------+
+-----------------------------------------+
| | | |
\___/ \___/
The thickness is chosen in such a way, that the wood is flexible. I put one
of these under each of the four rubber things on which the rack stands on
the floor, and two under each pedal. You won't get any contact noise
anymore!
I got the idea when I heared of a drummer who built his acoustic kit on
these wooden crates that are used to transport stuff by forklifts (don't=t
know how they are called exactly).
Good luck!2002-12-12 by hairytrigger <artifax@internetcds.com>

Anyone got any ideas ? i would really appreciate it... You have the same problem I had,I use thick foam underneath the rack, and the same under the Hi-Hat and kick pedal, the kick pedal seems the most problematic. Russell Butterfield

A more expensive option, but one I am going to do is this, I can't decide between the quietfloor or the R10 though... http://www.domesticsoundproofing.co.uk/products.htm --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "leffelejon <kth9120@h...>" <kth9120@h...> wrote: > Hi all > My neighbours are already knocking on the walls because of my newly > bought dtxpressII.
