Pintech Zenbal HiHat

Pintech Zenbal HiHat

2003-04-29 by brown8700

On Pintech's website, they've announced that they have now a Zenbal
China, and that splashes and HiHats are coming soon.
I talked to Brian LaRue at Pintech who said the HiHats would be
available in about 3-4 weeks and will come with an x-hat mounting
system.
Hmmmmmm. 3-4 weeks with shipping time would put delivery right around
Father's Day, wouldn't it?

How thick are the Zenbal cymbals? All I ever see is a top shot of
the Zenbal and I can never see the thickness of it? Is it real a
heavy rubber pad or is it lightweight and swinging with the strikes?

UNH,

The Zenbal's sturdy but not too heavy. It definitely swings.

What sizes do the zenbal cymbals come in? So far I've found a 14
inch and a china but I havent been able to see a pic of what the
china looks like or how big it is. I suppose it looks just like a
china eh?

At drumbalaya they have two dual zone zenbals. Their product
description is the same, both with chokes and dual zone. However
one is more expensive than the other. Why is this? And where are
the two zones located on the china zenbal? Edge and center? Thanks!

The Zenbal with two voices at Drumbalaya should be called stereo
like the Yamahas, rather than dual-zone. Since the china is
described the same way, it also probably triggers on rim and bow.
For now, as far as I know, the Zenbal comes in only a 14" size. If
you want to see the china, run a search, even a backward one, on it
at ebay. A store has been selling it for some time. It looks like a
standard china, with the Zenbal raised rim (if memory serves).

UnH.

There's a picture (albeit blurry) on Pintech's home page
(www.edrums.com). The ZB1, ZB2 abd ZB China are all 14" inches in
diameter. The soon-to-come HiHats and splashes are 10" in diameter. I
failed to ask Brian if these two new additions are single zone or
stereo, but I would bet they're single zone.

Incidentally, the ZB2 normally sells in the $95 - $100 range and the
ZB1 in the $85 - $90 area. Both come with the appropriate cable and
velcro cable strap.

My first live gig w/DTXpress

<RANT>
Ok... So... I had a few friends come over last night, we opened up a few
beers, setup a few mics and a few guitars,a keyboard player and a cute
chick with a tambourine :) and we stated to jam (Foreigner/ Clapton/
Santana/ Creed/ Barenaked Ladies/ etc.) and for the first time, I noticed
that MANY of my hits were coming up misses! This is very strange since
I've been playing my kit since December and have not had any trouble like
this (that I've noticed) through my headphones.

For some reason, the kick was only hitting 7 out of 8 hits and the snare
and/or hi-hat would sometimes dramaticly change in volume. Wow. I'd seen
some posts about the problems setting up for live play, but I'd never
experienced it till now. The weird part is that I hadn't changed anything
about the kit. I didn't even move it! I just had a few folks come into my
practice room and jack into my mixer. :::sigh:::

I guess it's time to go review all the posts on gain, specific rejection
and... uh... self-rejection (Hope I don't go blind!) :D And here I've
been smug in my superior knowledge that *my* kit wasn't doing those weird
things! :P

I had the same problem with my kit when playing with other electronic
instruments. When I practice by myself everything seems fine. When I practice
or gig with my band the snare and hi-hat become very eratic. Misses, loud,
soft etc. I thought it was me but I guess not.
