KP65 Kick tower/- TP65s 3 zone snare pad

KP65 Kick tower/- TP65s 3 zone snare pad

2003-05-01 by fxsran

Hi Guys,

Just a quick check, I was thinking of buying the KP65 Kick tower and
TP65s 3 zone snare pad, Do u guys think it would work on my Dtexpress
kit. The guys at the Yamaha says that it would only work on the DTX2
module and not on DTX1.Is it true?? Need some advise..

Thanks

Fx

Hi Fx,

The kick should work, but the three-zone snare will only get you two
voices on any DTXpress incarnation but the current one.

Hi Ed,
Thanks for the reply, So the kicktower would work on my Kit.
I remember those guys at Yamaha was telling me that it wont work coz
of the stereo signal from the Kicktower..?
I just wanna get them coz i wanna try and play double pedals and i
cant do that with my current single tower except by using my Hihat
foot pedal..

You only need a stereo cable if you havea pad plugged into the
secondary input on the kick tower. It'll work with a mono.

Actually, I have seen a photo of a modified double pedal where the
beaters were arranged one over the other rather than side-by-side.
That way, they can both fit on the pad.

However, I can't now find the photo and I'm aware my credibility is
now shot...

Found it. Yamaha_DTX group, in the Files section, in the folder "yyz
pictures".

Fx,

One of the selling points of the KP65 is its ability to accommodate
two pedals, and from the looks of it, I'd say that it could. But as
Stewart has aptly pointed out about the DTXpress II in another
regard, the advertising doesn't always hold true. This time, though,
it seems okay. Have you explored other kick pedal options?

Did I say pedals? I meant beaters. It must be Stewart's befuddling
sun, although it must be on the wane in England by now.

RE: [DTXpress] Re: KP65 Kick tower/- TP65s 3 zone snare pad

My old KP 60 quit. Built a Remo practice pad trigger and mounted it to the tower. Much better response and dynamic range and plenty of room for 2 beaters. About 6 weeks along and it is working very well. Total cost about $20.
This site shows you how: http://go.to/edrum
Let me know if I can help...

I have not explored other options yet, but there are some
interesting ideas here, Anyway i might just bring my Dtxpress brain
to Yamaha store and try to hook the KP65 and see for myself if it
works before buying it or maybe try the DIY option..
Thanks for all the advise guys..
