Re: [DTXpress] new dtxpress version

have any of you people seen this yet, i went into the music store on friday,
and they had the new version of the dtxpress. They have done a few upgrades,
there is 1 extra pad, that goes into the 9/10 input, cymbal locks to keep
the cymbals from moving around, a red anodized front aluminum support that
says yamaha on it, and best of all all pads are stereo pads, not sure of the
cymbal pads tho.
The sales guy, when i asked, said it uses the same bain, i could see it was
the same but i would hope they did some software updates to it.
The price is about $2250 cnd as compared to the regular dtx that sells there
for about $1650 cnd, i figure the extra cost is for the stereo pads and the
extra pad.
Anyway looks like a nice improvement and the price is still resonable. They
have a roland kit there too but it sells for like $5400 cnd.
anyway i thought it was cool, just thought i would let you all know so if
anyone is looking to purchase a dtx, they may want to check this one out.

Ed.

Sounds like a DS10 racking system and pads with an Xpress brain instead of a
DTX v2. If that's true, then the rack will have more improvements than the
ones you mention, like very clever cast alloy bosses at the pivotal joints,
and excellent, multi adjustable cymbal booms. Possibly better kick tower and
high hat (though that's relative). Ask out Swedish friend, Jarmo.

I spoke to a guy a year ago in Toronto who described the exact same kit, and
gave me a price over the phone. But I never actually saw it. Anyway, for not
outrageously more than that 2250 figure I got the DS10 with the DTX brain --
a nice unit.

What part of Canada are you in, eh?

Re: [DTXpress] new dtxpress version

2000-10-03 by Brandon Paluzzi

I'm also a DTX v2.0 user, but I subscribe to as many groups as possible
(ddrums, v-drums, dtxpress, etc.) just to get an idea of what else is out
there.

I'm using a set built around a DTX latin kit (dtx 2.0 brain, hi hat stand,
two round pads, two bar pads, one cymbal pad), with an added Kat FAT pedal
(bass drum), and homemade pads using the Roland Blue cones and Pearl Mesh
heads.

It's a killer kit, and cost me less than a grand (I already had a set of
shells/hardware lying around that I wasn't using, so I just had to buy the
latin kit ($699), the FAT pedal ($170), and the heads and cones (~60)

Re: [DTXpress] new dtxpress version

I'm making a V-drum copy design (under shell mounted piezos, with a blue
foam cone coupling the head to the piezo) The piezos are from radio
shack, the blue cones were ordered from roland

Re: new dtxpress version

2000-10-12 by tdjme@yahoo.com

Haven't seen it, but heard about it's coming when I was at MARS
superstore in Atlanta in August. They were pushing DTXpress' out the
door in anticipation of the new stock.

Even more importantly - I saw a video clip on the internet of the new
Yamaha competitor to Roland... mesh heads, sampled sounds in the
brain, and $1000 less price! I am in love, I think...
