I've uploaded some new pictures. They were taken this past weekend at the studio. Take not of the picture of the Pintech Hi-Hat Zenbal which I recently reviewed. Stephen Note. The photos are a bit dark......

I'm noticing a bit of a Pintech theme. Can't blame you a bit. Ed

Any special reason for this? I would have thought this more "natural" design would be more suitable for mounting level, which would seem to be better for playing the edge. Stewart

Stewart: I don't play the edge of the hi-hat very much. I use the hi-hat quite extensively with both hands and having the hat flat wasn't comfortable for me, especially with its raised edge. Stephen

Stephen, The raised edge is what I always considered the disadvantage of using a stereo cymbal for a hi hat, though, as you say, you can get around it. I remember having this discussion with Otacon28 (Sam) at least a year and a half ago when the Zenbals first came out. For a hi hat, I prefer either a single zone or a dual-zone w/bell. Ed

This is why I switched things around so I could use the TP65S, which has the benefit of a flush edge. The reason I asked Stephen was that I suspected the very prominent edge on the Pintech would be an issue. Hurry up the IIIsp in the UK... Stewart

Stewart, My two favorite e-hats are the Visu-lite and the ddrum (I have to disqualify the Hart because it doesn't work with either of my modules); they both play like acoustics, in almost all respects (except the issue of complete variability control). The ddrum, though it doesn't look as much like a hi hat as the V., has an uncanny hi- hat cymbal feel to it (maybe because it's made of metal, doh). If you close your eyes, you're there. Barring the Yamaha version, Pintech seems to be coming out with a line of cymbals very much like the Visu- lites. Maybe a hi hat is in the works; it's worth looking into. Ed

And, by the way, one of these days (weeks? months?), I'll lay down some drums-only tracks on my Fostex 280 and mix/master them onto a Pioneer deck in 16 bit, 44khz. They'll feature ddrum and Yamaha sounds for comparative effect.

Just added new pics of my "ToyLand". I ended up using the two Dtxtreme II modules and one older Dtxpress II module. Also, someone else added some pics in the new kit area, but did not label the folder as to who posted the pics. When you add new pics, please make a folder with your name/user name so that we can keep track of them when they get moved to the Archived area. Thanks. OldGuyDrummer

I had to modify the clamping bracket to make it work, but it works great. Also, the center rod was just barely long enough, it would have been nice if it were about an 1" longer. OGD

It is mounted to the rack that is separated from the main drum rack to isolated it. It is paralleled to the Dtxtreme II inputs 15/16 and the Dtxpress II inputs 9/10. The bottom pad decrements the drum kit number on all three modules and the top pad increments the drum kit number on all three modules. OGD

( that goes for the DesignJet as well...for printing enormous score sheets ? ) Very nice, both the kit and studio. Does anybody have pictures of how they have combined a DTX + acoustic kit ? Not necessarily into one hybrid but accessible from one stool or side by side in a tight space. My main basement room is being overwhelmed by the gear combination of drums/ keyboard/guitar/recording/AV/computing that all meshes into the multipurpose monster. Just looking for other peoples vision to perhaps germinate some ideas to get out of my crowded workspace rut. Then again, I may just have unrealistic expectations for a too-small space. Bog help me if I succumb to the recent amp shopping frenzy! Charlie

I have been told from a reliable source that it will be included in an upcoming "Survival Guide" that goes out to all the sales associates at all of the Guitar Centers nationwide.
