Sorry, DTXPRESS III again

Sorry, DTXPRESS III again

2004-01-21 by keith1200rs

I have read all the posts (I think) and just wanted to confirm that
the only significant differences between the II and III are in the box
- the pads are the same? I am thinking of buying the DTXPRESS in a
couple of months time and am trying to decide if it is worth hanging
on for the III (which may be a while in the UK - not a murmur so far).
Symbol sounds and a new paint job on the rack may not be worth
waiting for. Any comments?

Thanks,

Keith.

Hi Keith,

The standard edition of the III resembles the II, except for the
additions and improvements to the module and the collapsible curved
aluminum rack. The SP edition has all that plus the new hi hat, the
round cymbals (one double-switch, one single switch, and one mono),
and the new hi hat on the stand. The SP would certainly be more worth
the wait, but it will also cost a few hundred dollars more. You can
take some comfort in the fact that if you buy the II now instead of
either III, you can upgrade to the three-sound cymbals later; they're
compatible with inputs 2, 6, and 7 on the II's module (right, OGD?).
You could also buy the new module later a la carte. But I was under
the impression that the II was in serious short supply over there, as
here, and the dearth will get worse in two months rather than better.
No?

Ed,

Thanks for the information. I think I was roughly correct in the
differences. I haven't tried to buy one yet, and won't for at least a
month, so I don't know about the supply situation. My plan is to
get one around the end of March. If it turns out to be the III then I
won't complain, but I wouldn't like to be waiting for ages for either.

Best regards, Keith.

Ed,

I have checked a few places and found a couple with the DTXpress II in
stock so the supply doesn't seem too bad here at the moment. I assume
as we get closer to the end of March (when the general feeling is that
the DTXpress III will be available) I guess it must get worse.

Keith.
